The SAVI community information system collects, organizes, and presents a central warehouse of integrated data from over 30 federal, state, and local providers, all linked to the lowest available geographic level and including over 8,000 time-series variables from 1980 to the present.
GIS tasks will include geocoding, geotagging, digitizing new data, editing existing data sets, map creation and reporting in support of SAVI and other Community Informatics projects. Familiarity of multiple types of ESRI data formats such as shapefiles, personal geodatabases, and file geodatabases is important. Database tasks will include collection of data from local, state, and federal sources such as U.S. Census Bureau. Data editing, manipulation, and querying will also be required. Some data analysis may also be required.
Qualifications: The successful candidate will have the following attributes and skills:
- Experience with ESRI ArcGIS
- Experience with Microsoft Office 2010 or later – particularly Excel and Access
- Excellent writing and communication skills
- Good organizational skills. Be able to work as part of a team, and be willing to ask for direction when needed.
