Green Island Films, a documentary film company based in Hawaii, made a film about the impact of climate change on Hawaii’s food supply and distribution system which is potentially devastating. COVID-19 has made clear how food-insecure they are and they wanted to show how the pandemic has impacted them. They used the map, “New US COVID-19 Cases Over Time,” from the SAVI COVID-19 Data and Information Hub in the film, for which Polis, SAVI, and SoIC are credited. The film, “A Climate for Change Episode 3 “Ketchup and M&M’s,” premiered May 17 and the producers say it “is making significant waves” as it shows how unprepared the state is to handle the inevitable major food emergency.
