Kayla Swoveland is a GIS Analyst at the Polis center working on the Multi-Hazard Mitigation work. She started as an intern at the Polis Center and was hired on as a full-time analyst in December of 2016. Kayla holds a bachelor’s in Anthropology from Indiana University-Purdue University (IUPUI) where she focused on archaeology and museum studies. She is currently pursuing her masters in GIS at IUPUI and works part-time as a research assistant for the geography department. Kayla’s master thesis involves an analysis of settlement patterns for Mississippian peoples in the Central Illinois River Valley. Her project work experience includes working on a multidisciplinary project to digitize an archaeological site in. Kayla has also done surveying work on several other archaeological sites through her time as an undergraduate and graduate student.
