Kari Leer, CFM

GIS Project Coordinator

Kari Leer is a GIS Project Coordinator focusing on the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Risk MAP program an initiative that aims to update flood mapping in Indiana counties. She works directly with FEMA, IDNR and community stakeholders throughout the state of Indiana to identify flood risk and promote informed planning and development practices to help reduce that risk. Prior to joining Polis, she worked at Porter County Development & Storm Water Management as a CAD/GIS technician and at CDM Smith as a GIS specialist II. Kari holds a bachelor’s degree in Geography from Valparaiso University, a Professional GIS Certificate from DePaul University and is a Certified Floodplain Manager (CFM). She is an active member of the Associate of State Floodplain Managers (ASFPM), Indiana Association for Floodplain and Stormwater Management (INAFSM) and the Indiana Geographic Information Council (IGIC).
