The Indiana Department of Health funded a collaborative proposal from Polis and Jump IN for Healthy Kids to develop a public-facing community dashboard to distribute information about the community impact of childhood obesity. Jump IN is a multi-sector initiative targeting childhood obesity that “leads the strategy and implementation to make sustainable improvements at a systems level, focusing primarily on early care and education across Indiana, central Indiana schools, and health food access across Indianapolis.” SAVI will power the community dashboard. Jump IN and Polis will engage Indianapolis residents of color to examine traditional public health surveillance reporting for potential bias and harm that geographic- and population-specific reporting may reinforce. In addition, Engaging Solutions, LLC will facilitate community listening sessions this fall.
