Kevin Mickey, Polis Center Director of Professional Development and Geospatial Technology Education, is attending the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s (FEMA) annual Higher Education Symposium at the National Emergency Training Center in Maryland the week of June 3.  He is presenting a workshop, “Mapping, Modeling and Communicating Disaster Information Using GIS,” as well as participating in academic focus groups that are examining how to leverage science and technology in research, service and teaching. Part of the agenda includes leveraging the work that Polis did last fall that was documented in the report, Facilitating Collaboration between the Higher Education and Practitioner Communities to Promote Advancements in Scientific and Geographic Literacy.
